Session 10

Skill Development: Ability to change your face angle

Part 1 | Iron Direction

Time: 2o Minutes

Time: 10 min

Practice Tiger Woods’ favourite drill. Are you able to hit all 9 ball curves?

Imagine 9 corridors in the air.

Hit different shots, all landing at the same target.

for example a mid height and straight ball.

a high and straight shot

a mid and left to right curving ball

Practice all 9 shot curves and try to land the ball at the same target.

Find out which shots you are able to perform and which are difficult for you. This helps you on the course to evaluate risk and reward scenarios.

You can repeat this as often as you want within the 10 minutes.

Time: 10 min | Number of Balls: 10

This drill practices your variability, a very important factor on the course. Select a target that you can reach with a short iron (i.e. PW)

You want to keep this target, but now practice with a 9,8,7 and 6.

For each iron 2 shots to this target.

In total 10 shots

You can repeat this as often as you want within the 10 minutes.

Part 2 | Short Game Training or Break

Time: 2o Minutes

Part 3 | Iron Direction

Time: 2o Minutes

Time: 10 min | Number of Balls: 10

You want to hit from different positions on the range, to one specific target. This practices your ability to coordinate yourself on the course. Don’t hit balls from one spot all the time.

5x Balls from the right side

5x Balls from the left side

Consider to switch clubs after 5 balls, or only hit 1 ball on each side.

You can repeat this as often as you want within the 10 minutes.

Time: 10 min | Number of Balls: 10

This final drill brings it all together, it is about using all factors in your individual style. I don’t care if you use a closed stance or an open stance or a strong grip or a weak grip. Now, we want to focus on hitting a straight iron shot.

Just hit it, you learned these skills with the previous drills already.

Hit 10x shots with a straight ball flight at your target.

After Session 10 in your next training session. Play 9 to 18 holes and focus on these skills.

Then select a new area to train.
