Session 7

Skill Development: Ability to find your target area

Part 1 | Long Game Training

Time: 2o Minutes

Part 2 | Long Putts

Time: 2o Minutes

Time: 6 min | Number of Balls: 5

Rhythm is very important for long putts. This is a drill to create a feeling for rhythm, you don’t have to use this when you putt later on, but get a feeling for these drills.

Straight Putt | Start at 15ft | Corridor 3ft
Create 5 Corridors of 3 feet. At 15 | 18 | 21 | 24 | 27 feet. Start from 15ft and then play one ball into each corridor with the same rhythmic feeling. Like “one/two” or “ding/dong”.

Play 2×5 Putts with the same rhythm, one putt to each corridor.

Time: 7 min | Number of Balls: 1

This is an exercise to practice your green reading abilities.

Find a breaking putt between 25 and 55 feet. Start with 25 feet first. Walk to the middle of the Putt and get a feeling for the slope with your feet.

Now imagine where the target area is. Then putt straight at the target area and see if you are correct.

Every time you find a putt just try to figure out with your body how much the break is. And then imagine your target area.

Do this green reading style with your body feel for 7x Putts.  25ft | 30ft | 35ft | 40ft | 45ft | 50ft | 55ft

Only focus on the target area.

Time: 7 min | Number of Balls: 1

Let’s practice on your speed including a green read

Find putts that break. Putt back and forth between two balls which are 20ft away from each other. If both puts are in the 3ft radius. Then you will increase the gap by 10ft. Similar to the Speed Drills but with a breaking putt.

Breaking Putt | Start at 20ft | Target= 3ft Radius
Play 10x Putts, see if you can go from 20 | 30 | 40 | 50 | 60 feet gap.
